Cantata Music Center

Previously, the convenience and flexibility of a digital music library was at the expense of sonic performance. This marks the end of that compromise.

Resolution Audio's Cantata Music Center provides the same audio quality regardless of the music source. Whether it's a CD played via the on-board transport, a dedicated music library on a network storage system (NAS), or an uncompressed iTunes library stored on a computer in another room, the Cantata Music Center will play every note as if it were from the original CD; all from a single, silent device.

Other devices, such as a DVD player, can be played through the external inputs. Music sources can be chosen and CD playback controlled via the supplied remote control. Playback from a NAS or computer-based library can be controled via an iPhone/iPod Touch.

Connection to your library, regardless of the source, requires little in the way of setup and needs no proprietary software or drivers. To a computer, the Cantata "looks" like any other standard USB audio device which both Mac and Windows operating systems support natively. While USB connections are physically limited to 15 feet, the Resolution Audio "Pont Neuf" creates a "virtual" USB cable through your home network. In short, a computer in another room is as easy to use as a nearby computer.

In the case of a NAS device, control over playback is handled on the server itself and can be controlled via any WiFi-based remote control such as an iPod Touch.

All storage of data is on separate, "off the shelf" devices allowing management of the library and creation of playists from a computer. Data is also safer as the storage can be easily backed up to a second drive, or protected from loss using "RAID" technology. Storage can be easily increased. Best of all, with no hard drives located within the Music Center, the device remains completely silent.

Based on the award-winning Opus 21 series, the Cantata design has been refined and optimized for the emergence of computer-based music libraries. Built for simple integration into popular sources, the Cantata's modular architecture will accommodate tomorrow's formats and beyond.

Cantata Sample Configurations

In addition to the on-board CD transport, the Cantata Music Center can play music from a variety of sources such as a satellite radio or DVD player via standard digital connections (S/PDIF), or from a Mac or Windows computer via USB cable. (Note that USB connections are limited to 15 feet.)

For audio sources located in another room, the Resolution Audio "Pont Neuf" digital bridge converts USB to Ethernet while still appearing as a standard USB audio device to the host computer without the need for proprietary drivers of any kind.

If a wired (ethernet) connection isn't practical, a wireless connection can be used by simply adding a wireless converter.

Music libraries can also be placed on a network storage device (NAS) and connected to a home network along with the Cantata Music Center, again either by a wired (ethernet) or wireless connection.

The Cantata Music Center allows multiple sources to be connected at the same time - such as a computer via USB cable and a NAS device over ethernet - and chosen via the supplied remote control. Control over playback of the library on either a Mac/Windows computer or a NAS device can be performed via a WiFi remote such as an iPod Touch.
